How to reset the orientation manually

I need to be able to reset the orientation the same way it can be done with the Rift when pressing the "R" key.
I tried
DiveSensor.transform.rotation = DiveSensor.centerTransition * DiveSensor.rot;
but it seems to not have any effect. Does anybody know a solution? Some code would be helpful. Thank you.
