AUDIO - Pro composer with tons of XP looking for new VR work

My name is Rich Douglas, I'm a freelance composer / sound designer who has 11 years of experience in the video game industry and have worked with the likes of Id Software, EA, and countless indie devs across a slew of platforms including the Xbox 360, PC, Android and iOS. Recent projects I've been a part of include, the retail version of Insurgency (currently on steam), Lifeless Planet (currently on steam) the official Shadowgate remake (currently on steam), the space sim Evochron Mercenary (which has been highly ranked on Steam.. my score can be purchased via itunes), and Takedown: Red Sabre. I'm currently working on the music for Carnivores Reborn and the PS4 / XBONE port of Insurgency.

I have loads of XP, LOVE games, work insanely fast, and have an extremely cinematic sound. On top of that, in the past I worked as the audio director for Paradigm Entertainment (a THQ company), so I know the game dev pipeline and can even help you integrate things like an adaptive music structure and/or take on sound design duties. In fact, I've just completed close to 700 sounds and finished editing about 500 lines of dialogue for Shadowgate.

But I digress, I'll let my music and sound speak for itself! For samples of my work and a full client list, I invite you to check out my webpage here:

My scores from many of the above games can be streamed and/or purchased via my bandcamp site here: http://www.richdouglasmusic.bandcamp.com

So why am I here? Well, I consider myself an “indie composer” and am always on the prowl for new clients. Having recently picked up a cardboard / ColorCross headset, I came across this board which has led me to many cool games / demos. As there seems to be a strange lacking of composers / sound guys here on the boards I figured it couldn't hurt to offer up my expertise. Many of you here on the dive forums have done some amazing games / proof of concepts... and I can take them to the next level with some pro audio and bespoke music. As I do this full time, I can't work for free, but my rates are affordable and I can work within any budget... if your game shows some real promise and you do not yet have funding and / or are considering kickstarter, I may even score your game with some sort of royalty or deferred payment plan in place. The latter is a rare occurance, but it has happened.

If you'd like to hear something specific for your game or would like a short demo cue (free of charge) just let me know! If you're interested in hiring me, please get in touch via my website. Looking forward to hearing from and working with some of you.

Regards,

Rich Douglas

hey rich,

thank you for posting your contact here. For my games i would definitiv need someone who creates good sound files and have some experience with that.
Expecially for my games with dialouges, like the dungeon of terror.

But at this time it is not possible to pay someone. The income with the vr games is very low. The payed apps have not enough sells. And the income
trough commercials is much lower than for normal android games. i think there are not enough vr-headset owners at this time. hopefully this changes in
the next years. But for now android vr games are a nice hobby, but not that thing to make money with.

This is my opinion after one year of vr-development. I will not stop creating further vr games, because it is really fun. But for a payed sound desinger i simply need
much more users. maybe we meet again in the future ;)

best regards,
jan

I've been working on VR projects for the past few years, and I'm looking for an opportunity to work with some new people. I am also looking for a studio with tons of XP looking to expand their team. Visit this Master Bundles to download unique templates. I have experience in all aspects of game development including programming, art and audio. I can handle most tasks but I'm very good at designing gameplay systems, designing levels and making sure that everything is working as intended.

it's not possible to pay someone right now. The VR slime rancher 2 games don't bring in much money. The paid apps don't sell enough. And the money from ads is a lot less than for regular Android games. I don't think there are enough people with VR headsets right now. We hope that this will change in the coming years.
