Thank you for your feedback:

@lalalol: I totally agree with your feedback.
- Playing videos from the webbrowser was something I was already going after but failed in the short run. But now I figured it out. Next release will be coming ;)
- Before I developed this app, I converted some videos with ffmpeg in an Dive-friendly video format. Those videos are much more comfortable to watch than watching videos with my app (I could post the ffmpeg filter settings, but I currently do not have the files containing the settings... earliest in January). So even a little lag puts extra strain on the eyes. I am currently searching for a solution, but did not come up with something working well. Lets see...

@jpslara:
- Not finding the application in the menu is "working as designed".
- Do you know why it suddenly works for you?

Sorry for the doublepost, but I finally made it :)

I got videos to play almost perfectly (a little tearing is involved - but you won't notice) and in sync. This includes even 1080p videos. So after my little proof of concept I am confident enough to put a rather stable version together (compared to the last one). Wait for:
- beeing able to play webstreams
- play 1080p video (or whatever your device is capable of)
- play videos in perfect sync
- play on any display with any resolution you want
- play in fullscreen
- zoom in, so there are no black borders anymore

I guess the next version will end up in the playstore. Thank you for all the feedback :)

It is not finished, but I don't want to let you wait. So here is a much more useful version of my app:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/as99nu

It basically delivers everything I promised earlier, but still is a little bit buggy. But much better than the old version... a major improvement.

Thanks! This is the main reason I bought the Dive. It's working quite well already. The most important feature now, imo, is to have different scales. I prefer having a smaller frame so that it looks like a big TV rather than in your face. It would be really nice if I could use my Xbox 360 controller to fast forward and zoom etc. I'll look forward to however you develop it!

Thankfully I assembled my own Dive and have had the opportunity to see a select few movies on it using GoShow.
I haven't got a chance to test this one out yet, though it seems the both suffer from the same problem - lack of features.

This one already addresses the biggest issue of GoShow - the ability to skip through the movie.
However GoShow supports various lighting and screen size configurations.

The GoShow author seems to be going in the wrong direction focusing on added features like more virtual cinema rooms instead of fixing his basic usability issues first. This developer in contrast seems to be focusing on usability / accessibility with fancy trimmings on the back burner.

If this app can iron out configurable screen scaling and SBS 3D support, it would be the definitive player. For the time being I'll keep my Dive retired and continue to monitor the development threads in hope one day the software scene starts to take off.

I have did what you told me, open an mp4 file from a file manager. befor I was trying to open directly the aplication.

By other hand, I need to copy the mp4 file onto my sd card, previously, I try to open this file from LAN, using ES Filemanager, but when I try to open an mp4 file from LAN, your SBS Video Player don't appear as an option, but when the file is copy to sd card and try to open it using ES Filemanager too, SBS Video Player appear as an option to open de file, and then I can see de video SBS.

I hope that this info could be useful for you.

Regards.

the app gave a breath of fresh air to the dive, a DIY cardboard-made opendive in my case.

Just watched Man of Steel using the sbs app, it was awesome! it really felt like watching in a movie theater 8-)

a few (minor) gripes though:

screen size can only be changed between original and superzoom/fullscreen (crops almost 50% of the video)
while in original size, 1.85:1 video formats are A-OK whereas 2.39:1 formats (which most of the movie formats are) look stretched.

if the screen can be manually re-sized to the user's liking (think mxplayer pinch zoom feature) that'll be really wonderful. i don't mind cropping a few cm of the edges so the screen can look larger but not huge enough to feel dizzy. Fast scenes are hard to see when the screen feels like it's smooshed to your eyes.

volume is somewhat lower than the default video & mxplayer (perhaps it's just me..i dunno)

YouTube links force closes the app.

like the guy above me mentioned, it doesn't show on the list of video apps when i tried to play a video file opened from (ES Explorer, File Manager...) via LAN.

but overall i love it.

Sorry for my late response, but I'm rather busy at the moment. Nonetheless I've put the app in the playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ideoplayer

Just slight improvements compared to the old version. I implemented 3 more "zoom levels" however as you wished :)

It's gotten better and better! I switch between this and goshow, but I only use goshow for 3D. 3D, controller support and ability to stream from the local network and it's pretty much perfect. Are there any plans to open source it?
