How to calibrate Galaxy S4 gyroscope - Android 4.4.+

Hi,
obviously there are some people having problems calibrating the Galaxy S4 gyroscope under Android 4.4.x.
Since there are some topics in this forum dealing with this issue, I decided to open a new topic so that all
discussions regarding this can be conducted in one place. OK, let's calbirate that thing:

1. Open your phone dialpad
2. Dial *#0*#
3. Choose "Sensor"
4. Select "Gyro Selftest"
5. Wait
6. If calibration was successful you should see "PASS"
7. Hit the back button twice

That's it... However, the drift experienced by some users, is also caused by an uncalibrated megnetic field sensor. To calibrate this sensor proceed as for the gyro calibration. With step 4 proceed as follows:

4. Select "Magnetic sensor"
5. If there is a 3 in the circle, calibration is not needed
6. To calibrate, rotate the phone 3 times around every axis
7. Hit back button twice

That's it.

Have fun with your calibrated S4!

UPDATE:
instead of calibrating it via the above stated solution, you may want to give the app "GPS Status & Toolbox" a try...

Cheers,
Olanski

we recently added an autocalibration to our unity plugin. If corresponding apps were updated to the newest version of it, you could also just lay down/hold still your s4 for 10 to 20 secs.
