iPhone 6 drift

iPhone 6 drift

Heya,

I'm working with some of the VR samples on the iPhone 6, and I get quite bad drift (10 deg / minute) on the y axis. Has anyone else experienced this? Do the newer SDK revisions fix this?

I have had the same issue with every apple device I have tried integrating.
Not only is the issue on our projects but it is also seen on any Durovis IOS demo on the app store.

This is only an issue with apple devices, so there is a solution that has been found for android.
There are other companies that use accelerometers and gyroscopes for in game camera controllers, for example:

It has been months since any update has been released for durovis and the drift remains.
This raises the question, are patches just delayed for apple products or is apple just not supported at all?

Apparently some gear vrs have drift as well. This should be solvable by apple, I don't know if it's solvable from the 100hz data that user space apps can access. The M8 could probably solve this though since the sensors have 4khz updates, and you could kalman filter the shit out of the accelerometer + gyros.

Hi!

Did you try the newest revision of the dive plugin (502)?
After a short automatically invoked calibration,
when laying the phone down/holding still for 10 to 20 secs drift should be mostly gone and
calibration should persist for at least a few launches.

Hey Torbin,

Thanks for the post. I have not tried that yet. I will and part how it goes.
