wondering the same.
I've tried to copy the build_progress_pb2.UpdateNotification() to the internal storea/baseq2/config.cfg.
I've tried the Idroid:con is in keyboard+mouse mode and keyboard. The mouse mode as such works, but in quake the controller has no effect.
Then I tried gamepad mode and then I can at least operate the menu and walk, but not pick up items nor shoot :/
Not sure if the game picks up my the right config file ...

I am getting desperate :/ When I am using the controller-mode on the idroid:con (X or X+Y) and try to customize the controls in quake all buttons are recognized as "ENTER". I should work better in the keyboard mode, but that does not work at all. I can use the on-screen keyboard to get to the options, but when I try to customize the controls, none of the idroid:con keypresses is recognized :/
Maybe it needs
set in_joystick "1"
and a custom config for the idroid:con (see https://github.com/id-Software/Quake-2/ ... ystick.txt).

Just in case someone wants to avoid buying a snakebyte controller. I use the sixaxis app from the playstore to connect my ps3 controller with my smartphone.
Unfortunately you need a rooted device for this controlmethod.
Fortunately this app is amazing.
You can emulate touches on your display or a whole keyboard. I created a profile for the right controls by matching the keyboard and controllerbuttons.
Furthermore your dualshock 3 becomes a native controller, which is pretty sweat for supported apps and games like "the hight".
